Tips and Tricks Caring for Batik

Batik is Indonesian cultural heritage. Currently batik has become a worldwide trend. UNESCO has also established batik as a world heritage. For our nation Indonesia, especially the many cities that have a distinctive characteristic of batik, batik want to live in us. Batik is not only used as clothing, but also shows the use of authority.

Batik originated from Javanese language "amba", meaning to write and "titik" which means the point. In other words is an art batik fabric dyeing manual that refers to the cloth with a pattern generated by the material "malam" (wax) is applied onto the fabric, so resist the entry of the dye (dye), or in English "wax-resist dyeing ".

Batik is an ancestral heritage of Indonesia (Java) which is still there. Batik is also first introduced to the world by President Soeharto, who was then wearing batik at the United Nation Conference.

If you have a batik cloth or a combination, There are several things you need to pay attention to your clothing or batik fabric remains beautiful, are as follows:

1. Wash your batik cloth by using hair shampoo. Previously, dissolving shampoo first until no more part of jelling. After the new batik cloth dipped. You can also use a special detergent soap for batik fabrics on the market.

2. At the time of batik washing do not rub and do not use detergent. If your batik is not too dirty, you can wash it with warm water. But if your batik stains, you can clean enough with toilet soap. However, if the stain is still there, you can use the peel of an orange on the dirty part. Do not wash your batik cloth by using washing machine.

3. After the dirt lose, you have to dry in the shade but you do not need to extort, let the cloth dry naturally. At the time the sun you better draw part of cloth edge to be folded cloth fibers back to normal.

4. Avoid ironing directly, if too tousled you can spray water above your batik cloth and then seal your batik with other cloth. This is to avoid your batik cloth hit by direct heat from the iron.

5. If you want to give the fragrance and the batik fabric softener, do not spray directly on fabric. Previously, close over first cloth with newspaper, then spray the deodorant and fabric softener. We recommend that you do not spray perfume or fragrance oils directly to the fabric or garments made from natural color silk batik.

6. After ironed you should save your batik in plastic so as not to be eaten by moth. We recommend that you do not give camphor because the solid is too hard so that it can destroy your batik cloth. It is better you give wrapped peppercorn with a tissue and then enter in your closet to repel moths. Or you can use previous fragrant root that you dip into hot water and then dried, then dipped again in hot water and dried. Once the root of the new fragrance is dry you can use it.
